SDCC: It’s time. Preview Night
By Shawn Scott Smith| July 21, 2010 | Comments Off

Comic Con International kicks off tonight with Preview night, a night originally dedicated to getting on the show floor early and with less crowds but each year it’s getting more and more overcrowded.
Today’s programming highlights are light but include,
1. A preview of the new Nikita series starring Maggie Q.
2: And the Marriot is hosting a party and screening three unnannounced films for fans.
Of course just walking the showfloor is a party in its own right, so go have fun, and don’t blow all your cash in one day, plenty to see throughout the weekend.
David Prowse dropped from LucasFilm events
By Petrea Mitchell| July 20, 2010 | Comments Off
David Prowse, who played Darth Vader’s body in the original Star Wars trilogy, has posted the following at his Web site:
It is with regret that I have been informed by my friends at C2 Ventures, Ben and Phillip, that I am not to be invited to C5 [Star Wars Celebration V] this year or any other Lucas Film associated events. After enquiring, the only thing I have been told is that I have “burnt too many bridges between Lucas Film and myself” – no other reason given.
I have also been advised by the promoter of Paris Manga in September that LFL have requested no photo opportunities with the 501 Squadron, even though I am commander in chief of the 501.
Sincere apologies to all my fans who were hoping to meet with me – I shall miss you too. As you will see from my events page I will be at many conventions all over the world so we can still keep in touch.
Prowse has not been banned from all conventions, as some outlets have reported; his appearances page still lists several non-LucasFilm-run conventions around Europe.
Great article on ApolloCon

It’s so rare to see a positive, in-depth, and mostly correct article about science fiction fandom outside of the fan media that it’s worth highlighting this one from the (San Antonio) Express-News.
