By Petrea Mitchell| October 22, 2010 | Comments Off on Elizabeth Moon no longer Wiscon GoH
Elizabeth Moon has been dropped as a Guest of Honor from Wiscon by Wiscon’s parent organization, SF3. The announcement in its entirety says:
SF3 has withdrawn the invitation to Elizabeth Moon to attend WisCon 35 as guest of honor.
Comments concerning this statement can be left below or sent to email@example.com.
Moon’s only public response so far has been similarly terse:
As everyone knows by now, WisCon rescinded its GOH invitation and I won’t be there.
WisCon management has the right to make whatever decisions they think best for the convention. I do not and did not dispute their right to rescind the invitation.
It is widely believed that this happened due to comments made by Moon on her blog which provoked a strong negative reaction from Wiscon attendees.
The other planned GoH, Nisi Shawl, is still on the roster for Wiscon 35.
