Monstercon changes locations

By Shawn Scott Smith| July 20, 2013 | Comments Off on Monstercon changes locations

Monstercon scheduled for next weekend has left their hotel as of this notice and will instead be holding the event at Furman University’s Timmons Arena. We plan on being at the show to cover the event for con-news. Hope to see you there!

Here is the websites announcement,

If you are coming to MonsterCon 2013, PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE COMPLETELY. This is a major news announcement regarding our event this year.

For the last couple of weeks we have been working to solve the problem of capacity at the Hilton Greenville, as well as parking concerns, and resolution of the errors made with room reservations earlier this year. These problems became compounded this week due to unrealistic and unfair actions taken by the hotel.

2 things to remember about our staff and this convention:
*We will not tolerate unfair treatment of our attendees.
*We will not take abuse from any venue.

To make a long story very short, a threat of cancellation was issued by the hotel, and we have all worked entirely too hard to let that happen.

We have done the impossible, and have lined up a whole new venue for the show.

MONSTERCON 2013 HAS MOVED TO FURMAN UNIVERSITY’S TIMMONS ARENA!

We now have 33,000 square feet of function space, plenty of parking available, without the headaches of non-convention room guests making complaints about our fans.

We will be updating our website this weekend to reflect the new venue, vendor placements, and everything else that needs to be modified. Vendor booth numbers will remain unchanged.

Now, to tackle the obvious questions:
*All Hilton Greenville tickets are still 100% good. We sold them to you, and we will honor them at Timmons Arena.
*Program books do have to be re-printed to omit any Hilton Greenville references. If the new batch arrives in time, they will still be at the show. If they do not, we will be issuing refunds of the $10 presale orders, and $15 per VIP package.
*VIP EXTREME packages will be refunded the difference of the room costs, and in place you will get a FREE room on us at a nearby hotel.

If you are booked at the Hilton Greenville, the choice is yours if you still want to stay there. You may be able to get a cheaper rate at a hotel closer to Furman University, and the contracts with the Hilton specify your deposits are not due until Friday, July 19, which is tomorrow.
