serving the convention community since 2007.

We spent the weekend at Connooga. It was the first time I’ve ever been to Chattanooga, and I’ve got to firstly give props to the people of the convention. It was by far one of the friendliest crowds at a convention, especially a multi fandom one. The Chattanooga Choo Choo is a great hotel for conventions, and I could see an awesome steampunk show taking place there with all the old trains on the property. I really enjoyed the tiny city feel that walking outside between panels and to the exhibitor hall gives you. It also makes the convention feel less crowded. The centennial theatre is really nice and a great benefit to the convention as it continues to grow. It’s large enough and nice enough that you could even do really big celebrity q and a’s there if the con chooses to go in that direction.
The programming was very diverse and well organized. We had some trouble on Friday with the paranormal track not being on time, but all the other tracks moved smooth and were succesful. I really enjoyed Lloyd Kaufman’s panel “Make Your Own Damn Movie” and a nice surprise in the musical stylings of, Leticia Wolf Other panels that were great, Firefly, the Doctor Who Panels, Star Trek, and the Flash Fiction Panel. The costumers were great,my favorite being the (Sleekstak)SP? from Land of the Lost.
The hotel has three buildings and we were lucky enough to be in the party building, so we could stumble upstairs at the end of the night. Best parties, were the Trailer Trash, Heavy Metal, and the Pirate Party. And a special thank you to the Steampunk crew for the invite to their private party, which was delicious.
If Connooga continues to grow, adds a little more variety to the late night programming and extends the Sunday schedule a little bit, I’d be estatic. As it is, I’m already planning on attending for years to come.
Great Job! We will have pictures and videos up this week.
