Press Release:

 Hyatt Regency Bellevue
 October 14-16, 2011
Tickets available online or at the door.
Call it Victorian science fiction, altered history, or yesterday’s tomorrows; steampunk has captured the imaginations and hearts of many people.   Seattle’s first steampunk convention, Steamcon drew over 1,300 fans its first year and 2,200 in its second year.
This year Steamcon’s theme is “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”.  It will be a celebration and exploration of the briny deep as seen through the lens of Victorian science fiction. All the horrors and treasures of the sea will be revealed! Don your diving suits or fire up your submersibles and join us for a thrilling adventure!
K.W. Jeter, the man who coined the term “steampunk” and author of Morlock Night and Infernal Devices, will be the Author Guest of Honor.  Gary Gianni, illustrator of the most recent adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is the Artist Guest of Honor.
Headlining the Saturday Night Concert will be the musical guests of honor, the wonderfully theatrical Vagabond Opera.  The concert will also feature a performance by the perennial Steamcon favorite, “Unwoman.”
Steamcon III will be taking place at the lovely Hyatt Regency hotel in Bellevue on October 14th -16th 2011.  Steamcon III will be three days worth of lively panel discussions, demonstrations, and talks about the literary genre/music genre/fashion movement/ and do-it-yourselfers dream that is steampunk.  The convention will be hosting an art exhibition, a merchant’s room, games rooms, a high tea, dances, a concert and much more.  Speakers, fans and steampunk aficionados will come from around the world to attend.
Special events:
Friday night will be the second occurrence of the annual Airship Awards Banquet, an evening to honor the most outstanding creators in the steampunk community.
