Tribute to Neil Armstong NASA Exhibit
Stars? Of course we have stars. How could we not have stars in our universe? This year we are bringing you the Moon and the Stars.

You will not want to miss the launch of our first ever Tribute to Neil Armstrong NASA Exhibit brought to Indianapolis by Shane Co. NASA will be sending us a number of items from Apollo missions for display at Starbase Indy. It will be our tribute to Neil Armstrong and space exploration and we think it melds perfectly with our science programming and our hopes for our future in space.

Some of the usual programming (like the masquerade and late night karaoke) will be there along with some new concoctions we have bubbling in our cauldrons, including a slightly expanded Children’s programming tract. We have Weird Science with Dr. Rob Pyatt, Backyard Astronomy with Dennis Ciurej, Effects of Star Trek on Minorities with Dr. Ann Burton, Joe Greene and his robot madness, two hours of philosophy and ethics discussion led by Jason Eberle, Ph.D., Joseph Long, Ph.D. and Walter Robinson, Ph.D. Local independent film producer Karmic Productions will hold a panel on making independent films and will screen some of their productions. Author Michael Z. Williamson will be adding his acerbic wit to some of our panels. Klingon paneling and lectures will occur; we just haven’t made specific choices, yet. Starfleet Command and Starbase 06 have both scheduled meeting time at Starbase Indy. Joan of Dark will do some geeky knitting along with Zabat Roberts and Laura Hohman. There will be a presentation on the reality of Forensics and where it might go in the future. Cheryl Roberts and Sandy James, two local Paranormal Romance writers, will be doing a Q&A panel on Saturday.

We also plan on bringing back our 80s style arcade with about 10 to 15 machines.  Long time Starbase Indy attendee, DataDan gives up a great deal of his time at the convention managing the Arcade room.  He personally owns all of the machines which he transports here in a U-Haul. Although all the games are free, we ask for a donation to help cover the cost of the transportation.

Dinner with the Stars

One of our most anticipated events lifts off on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. You will not believe how much fun we can pack into three hours! We start with a mix & mingle and transition to a buffet style dinner. Enjoy music (performed by iL Troubadore) and great conversation while you eat at one of the nine tables (only five remaining) with at least one of our guests and nine other attendees. And, what’s a night of good food, without entertainment? That’s right… we have that covered too.

Dr. David Wolf, Astronaut

An astronaut is a separate but equal item on that list. Dr. David Wolf, astronaut extraordinaire, returns to Starbase Indy to regale us with facts about NASA and his latest adventures.
