HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! We’ve had a busy holiday season over here at Supercon HQ have some exciting news to announce!
The first announcement is the addition of several new guests to Florida Supercon 2013, including the legendary GEORGE TAKEI, star of Star Trek and Social Media Superstar! In addition to George, we’ve added 5 other awesome guests, including:
Nick Cardy: Legendary Comic Book Artist. Teen Titans, Aquaman, Superman.
Dan Gilvezan: Star of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (Spider-Man / Peter Parker) and Transformers (Bumblebee).
Hacksaw Jim Duggan: WWF, WWE and WCW wrestling superstar.
Honky Tonk Man: WWF, WWE and WCW wrestling superstar.
Pineapple Shaped Lamps: Comedy and Entertainment group.

Next up is a reminder that ANIMATE! MIAMI, our anime, animation and cosplay convention is just 3 weeks away on January 18-20, 2013. George Takei, Nick Cardy and more added to the Florida Supercon 2013 Guest List!

Florida Supercon 2013 (www.floridasupercon.com) is still over six months away, but we’re already starting to lock down some amazing guests for our 8th annual show! We’ve already announced over fifty guests and this week we’re thrilled to announce six new additions to that list!

George Takei is coming to Florida Supercon! Oh Myyy! George is an american icon, best known for his portrayal of Mr. Sulu in Star Trek and in recent years as a social media superstar! He is a regular guest on The Howard Stern Show, currently co-stars of the Nickelodeon series Supah Ninjas, recently appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and was one of the co-stars of the NBC series Heroes. He has lent his voice to numerous cartoons such as Adventure Time, Futurama, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Chowder, Scooby-Doo, Transformers: Animated Series, Transformers Prime, Archer, Super Hero Squad, Fish Hooks, Batman Beyond, Kim Possible, Mulan and Mulan II. George and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga have recently premiered a new musical called “Allegiance” at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, which is getting prepared for a run on Broadway. As an author, George co-wrote (with Robert Asprin) a science-fiction novel, Mirror Friend, Mirror Foe in 1979. As well, his autobiography, To the Star was published in 1994 and his latest book is Oh, Myyy! There goes the internet was published in 2012.

The legendary Nick Cardy will be making a rare convention appearance at Florida Supercon 2013! Nick’s career as an artist and writer began in 1939 and has spanned over 60 years. Nick Cardy has hundreds of credits and is synonymous with Aquaman and Teen Titans. In the Golden Age he worked on such titles as Fight Comics, Jungle Comics, Kaanga Comics, and Wings for Fiction House Publications, “Lady Luck” in Will Eisner’s Spirit Section and “Quicksilver” in National Comics. In the silver age he was the artist of note for the Teen Titans, Aquaman, Bat Lash and worked on the Batman comic strip. In the Bronze Age he was the primary cover artist for DC Comics, providing covers for the likes of Superman, Action Comics, The Brave and the Bold, Batman, Flash, Ghosts, Witching Hour, Secret Origins, Jimmy Olsen, World’s Finest and the various 100 Page Giant comics. More than just a comic book artist, Nick worked on dozens of movie posters in the 1970’s, including Star Wars, The Street Fighter, Apocalypse Now and more!

The Amazing Dan Gilvezan is an icon of 1980’s Saturday morning cartoons! Dan is an actor, voice actor and writer best known as the voices of Spider-Man / Peter Parker in “Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends”, Bumblebee in the original “Transformers”, Slipstream and Beach Head in “G.I. Joe”, as well as Prince Dargon in “Sectaurs”.


 

Wrestling legends Hacksaw Jim Duggan and The Honky Tonk Man have both been added to the Florida Supercon guest list and will be taking part in Florida Super Championship Wrestling!

 

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a wrestling legend and is well known for his use of a wood 2×4, his “Hooo!” battle cry and his “U-S-A!” chant. He is a member of the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame and has held several championships in his career, including the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship, WCW World Television Championship and UWF World Tag Team Championship. He has won the WWF Royal Rumble and WWF King of the Ring tournament and has been a part of numerous Wrestlemania, Starcade and other PPV events.

The Honky Tonk Man is a wrestling legend best known as the longest reigning WWF Intercontinental Champion of all time! He has wrestled with the WWF, WWE, WCW, AWA, NWA Mid-Atlantic, NWA Southeastern, Stampede Wrestling, World Wrestling Council, XPW and more!
Last, but not least, comedy group Pineapple-Shaped Lamps will be returning to Florida Supercon 2013, following a host of amazing performances this past year! They are without a doubt one of the funniest groups to ever hit a convention stage and we are thrilled they’ll be making the trip back to Miami.

ANIMATE! MIAMI: South Florida’s Anime, Animation and Cosplay Convention is JANUARY 18 – 20, 2013.
