Kevin Smith is coming to Supercon! The one and only Kevin Smith (Director, Actor, Writer, Podcaster) has just been confirmed to appear at Florida Supercon 2013!

Sunday night, July 7th at 6:30pm, Kevin Smith and Bryan Johnson take the main stage at Florida Supercon for a very special “WHY, BRY?” podcast as Kevin Smith takes you on a terrifying journey inside the life and times of his best friend, Bryan Johnson (aka, Beard-Guy from AMC’s COMIC BOOK MEN). Squirm with delight as Big Bry horrifies Kev and the audience with tales of deviltry and debauchery in the Jersey ‘burbs! This special event is FREE to anyone with a ticket to Florida Supercon. There is no extra fee to see the show!

But wait! There’s more! Not only have we just announced Kevin Smith, but also over a dozen other last minute guest additions, including:

Jennifer Hale: Actress and Voice Actress. Star of The Mass Effect Trilogy (Commander Shepard), Metal Gear Series (Naomi Hunter), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Bastila Shan), Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Jaden Korr), Star Wars: Clone Wars (Aayla Secura, Riyo Chuchi, Lolo Purs) and much more!

George Beliard: Manager of Talent Relations for Marvel Comics. Among other things, he’s involved in finding and recruiting new talent to work at the House of Ideas. He’s also spearheaded a number of cover initiatives for Marvel, including Iron Man by Design, Avengers Art Appreciation Month, and the Skottie Young variants.

J Michael Tatum: Voice Actor, ADR Director and Script Writer. He is best known for his roles as Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler, France in Hetalia: Axis Powers, Eneru in One Piece, Kyoya Ootori in Ouran High School Host Club, Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Damon in the Pokemon Black and White films.

Tyler Kirkham: Best known for his art on the DC 52 relaunch of Green Lantern: New Guardians and Green Lantern Corps. He has recently been doing a ton of covers for DC, and interior work on Red Hood and the Outlaws. He is the new artist of Action Comics, starting with issue #22.

Gregory Shane Helms “The Hurricane”: Stand back… There’s a Hurricane coming! Gregory Shane Helms “The Hurricane” is a wrestling superstar best known for his runs with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). THE ORIGINAL WRESTLING SUPERHERO will be making his Florida Super Championship Wrestling debut at FSC!

D.C. Douglas: D.C. is known for his roles as both an actor and voice actor. He is the voice of Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil series, Legion in the Mass Effect series, Chase in Transformers: Rescue Bots and Raven in Tekken 6. Sci-Fi fans will know him from roles on Star Trek: Enterprise, Charmed and Passions.

Danielle “Panser” Mackey: Danielle Mackey is a gamer, game reviewer, vlogger and reality TV personality, known for her “Trade Chat” YouTube videos, which she produces under the name “Panser”, and for her appearances on the reality TV shows The Tester and King of the Nerds. Her YouTube channel has attracted 190,000 subscribers. She also hosts the WoW Insider Weekly Recap for Joystiq and was a finalist in Maxim’s “Gamer Girl” competition. In 2010 she participated in Season 2 of the reality show The Tester, as War Princess. In 2013, she was a contestant in the first season of the TBS reality TV series King of the Nerds, as a member of the Servants of the Forsaken Orb team (formerly the Orange Team). Victoria Cosplay: Victoria has worked for such companies such as Gentle Giant Studios, The Modern Tokyo Times, and has been a featured cosplay guest at her local comic shop for the past 4 years. Her image has appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stone, The Chive and countless of other websites. She was the subject of the Entertainment Weekly article “Slave Leia: Some Assembly Aquired” and has appeared in such publications such as Latina Magazine, which is sold nation wide. Victoria continues to work as a free lance model, Blogger and has worked in early childhood education for several years.,

Freddie Nova: Cosplay Guest Freddie Nova has been a comic book junkie for over 17 years & memorabilia collector far longer. Her fandom slowly progressed into costume making & became a passion. Her methods are mostly budget friendly Recycle & Re-purpose materials & to create new challenges with every piece. With over 40 costumes & counting, her main goal each character is to transform visually to the point of not being recognized.

Kristen Hughey: By combining her intense love of gaming, skills in crafting and sewing, and zest for learning, Kristen Hughey was able to bring her own fantasy to life and become an international costumer. What started as something she would “try out, just for fun” and to meet local, likeminded friends quickly became a portal to realms she never thought possible. She has recently expanded her craft by representing companies such as Machinima and traveling to appear at events as a featured cosplayer. Her ability to share her love for all things geek and to now meet likeminded friends around the world is her favorite aspect of this career. Outside of cosplay and gaming, Kristen has started a charity called Heroic. With the tagline “be heroic,” the idea is that people will be reminded of their own power to make a difference in the world. Jennifer Kateri: Jennifer is an up-and-coming cosplay enthusiast who has created her own costumes based on her favorite fictional characters. As a child, she was exposed to Star Wars, video games, and fantasy novels which evolved into a love of geek culture and cosplay. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iowa State University which taught her valuable techniques and skills that she uses to complete each new costume project including: scalemail/chainmail construction, sewing, molding, and casting. When she isn’t cosplaying, Jennifer works at a magazine publishing company and her local comic book hobby shop.

Soni Aralynn: Soni Aralynn is a talented cosplayer and has been creating detailed and intricate costumes for years. Soni loves to bring her favorite comic book,video game and power ranger characters to life. Her favorite part of being a cosplayer is making new friends who are into the same nerdy, geeky things that she is into. A hard worker, and skilled cosplay model, Soni has been featured in numerous online and print publications.

Our friends at Kansai Club Publishing have just started a Kickstarter to help publish Osamu Tezuka’s “The Crater” @ We encourage you to help support this awesome endeavor! Osamu Tezuka is perhaps best known for writing and illustrating Astro Boy, Kimba the Lion, and Black Jack. Of the numerous short story collections created by the late and great “Godfather of Japanese Comics,” “The Crater” is one of Osamu Tezuka’s most charming and powerful collections of short stories. This is the first time that one of Osamu Tezuka’s short story collections will be published in English.

“The Crater” first appeared in Japan’s “Weekly Shonen Champion” and ran from August 10, 1969 to April 1, 1970. This is the first time that “The Crater” will be published in English. Kansai Club is publishing a SINGLE EDITION of this amazing book which includes all 18 short stories from the original publication. They are ONLY printing 2,000 copies of this book and each book is individually numbered out of 2,000. The books are printed in a large Hardcover format (7 x 10 inches) and include 3 different 7 in x 10 in art prints inspired by content from “The Crater.” The MSRP for the book is set at $34.95. While the books will not be ready in time for the convention, as an EXCLUSIVE promotion for Florida Supercon goers, every person who buys a book through their Kickstarter campaign will be able to pick up a FREE shirt at their booth at Florida Supercon. These shirts are awesome enough that Kansai Club will be selling them for $20 each at the convention, so buy a book through Kickstarter and get some free stuff.

Florida Supercon is proud to announce Kid’s in Distress as the official charity of Florida Supercon 2013. Kid’s in Distress,

is a local organization dedicated to preventing child abuse, preserving the family and treating children who have been abused and neglected, with a vision of safe and healthy children in loving families. This years theme for Kids in Distress has been Superheroes… so it seems like a natural fit… except these guys and gals are the real Superheroes!

In 2012, Kids in Distress highlights included:

* 218 abused children find safe haven at KID’s Emergency Shelter

* 506 boys and girls embraced through KID Foster Care

* 152 little learners nurtured at KID Preschool Plus

* 3,531 healthy new smiles created at KID Dental Health Center

* 1,102 children step toward better mental health at our Family Counseling Center

* 4,103 children and adults helped thru KID FIRST, Healthy Start and Healthy Families

* 152 children spend safe, supervised time with their non-custodial parents though KID’s Visitation Program

*319 adults and children relied on Family Reunification Services for help

* 85 families at imminent risk are kept together through KID Home Builders

100% of the proceeds from this years FSC Charity Art and Celebrity Memorabilia Auction will benefit Kids in Distress. As well, KID will have a booth set up at the show, and we are working on some other things we can do to support them.
