Jon Bernthal Makes It A ‘Walking Dead’ Trio At 2012 Wizard World Austin Comic Con

Joins Fellow Cast Members Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker At Austin Convention Center, October 27-28

NEW YORK and AUSTIN, Texas, October 11, 2012 – Fans of “The Walking Dead” have another great reason to rejoice, as Jon Bernthal, who portrayed “Shane Walsh” in the hit AMC series, has been added to the roster at Wizard World Austin Comic Con at the Austin Convention Center.  He joins fellow cast members Norman Reedus (“Daryl Dixon”) andMichael Rooker (“Merle Dixon”); all three are scheduled to appear on Saturday, Oct. 27, and Sunday, Oct. 28.

The classically-trained Bernthal recently completed filming Ric Roman Waugh’s action drama, Snitch, opposite Susan Sarandon and Dwayne Johnson.  He has appeared in such large-scale productions as World Trade Center, The Pacific and Rampart, and has had guest roles on top TV series like “CSI: Miami,” “Boston Legal,” “Without a Trace” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

Bernthal, Reedus and Rooker will greet Wizard World Austin Comic Con fans, sign autographs, pose for photo ops (including a chance to be photographed with all three) and participate together in an interactive Q&A panel.

“The Walking Dead” earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama Series, a Writers Guild of America nomination for Best New Series, and recognition as one of AFI’s Ten Best Television Programs of the Year. The series set new records as the most watched drama series in basic cable history, and is aired internationally in over 120 countries and 33 languages.

In addition to Bernthal, Reedus and Rooker, eight stars of the popular series “Star Trek: The Next Generation” will gather for their first 25-year U.S. reunion at Wizard World Austin Comic Con, including the legendary Patrick Stewart, who portrayed the stern, determined “Captain Jean-Luc Picard,” commander of the USS Enterprise.

Sequart’s NYCC plans.

Sequart Research & Literacy Organization and Respect! Films are proud to announce their New York Comic Con panel, which will preview footage from their upcoming documentary on the history of Image Comics, The Image Revolution. (Currently filming, the documentary has an anticipated completion date of early 2013. You can pre-order it now at sequart.org/store.) The panel is Thursday night from 6:30 – 7:30pm in room 1A04. Sure, there’ll be other interesting panels at the same time as ours, but let the comics news sites cover those, because this will be your only chance to see more than just trailers before the documentary is released next year.

 

At the end of the panel, Sequart and Respect! will be selling the recently-released DVD of Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts (which includes over 70 minutes of bonus interviews) and the new 2-disc special edition DVD of Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods. NEW YORK and NEW ORLEANS, October 3, 2012 – It has been 25 years since “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” hit the air.  Now, seven main members of that historic show will reunite as Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard),Jonathan Frakes (Commander William T. Riker), LeVar Burton (Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn(Lieutenant Worf), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi),Brent Spiner (Lt. Commander Data) and Gates McFadden(Dr. Beverly Crusher) will attend Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, Nov. 30 – Dec. 2 at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The series, which ran for seven seasons from 1987 through 1994, garnered 18 daytime Emmys and was a hugely successful follow-up to the original “Star Trek” from two decades earlier.  The seven stars are also scheduled to appear at this month’s Austin Comic Con in what would be the first gathering of the group in the U.S. since “TNG” first aired.

Stewart is scheduled to appear on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1-2, while the rest of the cast is slotted for attendance all three days.  Weekend fans will have the unique opportunity to pose for a photo op with all seven actors.

We are extremely excited to announce that Steve Blum will be joining us for MomoCon 2013! You likely know Steve’s voice from many different media, but is perhaps best known for his role as “Spike Spiegel” from Cowboy Bebop, “Tom” from Toonami, and more recently was “Amon” in Korra and had several roles in Guild Wars 2 most notably “Rytlock”.

Mr. Blum will be joining Martin Billany AKA Little Kuriboh from Yu-Gi-Oh! the Abridged Series and Marianne Miller voice of Kyosuke from Madoka Magica as MomoCon 2013 guests. We also expect to announce even more guests shortly!

Although best known as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) from Fantastic Four & Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Ioan has appeared in a wide variety of movies and TV shows. Some of his more notable roles have included; Titanic, Horatio Hornblower, 102 Dalmatians, Black Hawk Down, King Arthur, Sanctum and Horrible Bosses.

NASFiC: An new challenger appears!

Just when it appeared there would be no opposition to the Phoenix bid for the 2014 NASFiC, word is spreading about a Detroit bid. The proposed dates are July 17-20 (the weekend before SDCC).

Eighth Cast Member To Join 25-Year ‘TNG’ Reunion At Austin Convention Center, October 26-28

NEW YORK and AUSTIN, September 26, 2012 – Wil Wheaton, who starred as a teenager in the classic coming-of-age film Stand By Me in 1986 and a year later earned an important role in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” will appear at next month’s Wizard World Austin Comic Con.  Wheaton joins seven other “TNG” cast members in a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the start of the landmark series, Oct. 26-28 at the Austin Convention Center.

Wheaton portrayed Wesley Crusher, son of Dr. Beverly Crusher (played by Gates McFadden) in the show.  Other fellow “TNG” cast members scheduled for Austin include Patrick Stewart (Capt. Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William T. Riker), LeVar Burton (Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Lieutenant Worf), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi) and Brent Spiner (Lt. Commander Data).

Wheaton is also known for popular roles as Joey Trotta in Toy Soldiers (1991) and portraying himself on the series “The Big Bang Theory.”  He is an avid blogger, with frequent postings at Wil Wheaton Dot Net and WWdN: In Exile.
