Will the Disney Purchase of Star Wars affect future Celebrations?
By Shawn Scott Smith| October 31, 2012 | Comments Off
By now, you’ve read the news that Disney has bought Lucasfilm and with it Star Wars. For our website its all about how it effects the conventions.
I’m wondering how long ago this Disney purchase of Lucasfilm has been in the works? One tends to lean to the fact that the past two Celebrations were both held in the Orlando area as evidence to the fact that it’s been a while. What does this mean for future Celebrations? Does the West Coast and Anaheim get a celebration?
Will Disney parks get involved?
Will Star Wars have a presence at the next D23 Expo?
How will Disney handle the 501st and other fan and charity groups?
It’s going to be an interesting time to be a Star Wars fan as Disney won’t sit on the property. We will keep you up to date once we hear anything about the sales impact on future conventions.
