By Petrea Mitchell| June 10, 2010 | Comments Off on Two cancellations for Red Dwarf
Two Red Dwarf conventions that were supposed to be held in July have been cancelled. Better Than Life insinuates that it was unable to go forward due to rights issues, but Dimension Jump, the official convention of the Red Dwarf fan club, says here that it had to postpone due to a lack of interest.
Dimension Jump’s new dates are April 8th-10th, 2011. Will it fare any better then? Well, grumbles this fan, maybe if that darned movie could finally get made…

By Shawn Scott Smith| June 9, 2010 | Comments Off on D-Bag movie to premier at Wizard World
Info and Links for the movie,
Here is some info on the flick;
Despite the fact that all women say they like the nice, sweet and cuddly guy, we all know this to be false. The “D-Bag” in our society gets it all: the girls, the money, the fame.
With the multitudes of celebrity examples it is not that difficult for a “nerdy” guy to see what sort of moronic man he would have to become to get noticed. We follow the journey of an ordinary guy on his quest to become “brothentic,” and expose the idiocy of it all.

We had a blast at both Heroescon and ConCarolinas this weekend. I’m hoping they dont fall on the same weekend next year as we plan on having a table at Heroes then. Anyway, here’s some shots from the fun, with Heroes first on Friday followed by Concarolinas. Great job to both organizers. Both great conventions!

Film Festival helps spread the word about comics and reading
PHOENIX, AZ – The independent feature film “Comic Book Literacy” won the “Best Documentary” award at the Phoenix Comicon Film Festival over Memorial Day weekend. The film features interviews with comic book creators, educators and scholars and delves into the topic of using comic books to promote literacy and education.
The film screened early in the festival, which was a part of the tenth annual Phoenix Comicon, and helped to set the stage for one of the convention’s primary themes. The convention partnered with “Kids Need to Read,” a non-profit organization that works to create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to under-funded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States. Together the two groups produced multiple events throughout the convention to raise funds for the charity.

Got lots of zines and comics and an awesome unexpected print of Wolverine Fidel Castro that you’ll have to see to believe. At ConCarolinas now and getting ready to go to some parties in a bit. Ill probably get some updates up in the morning before another full day here in Charlotte.« go back — keep looking »
