Comics Are “Heart and Soul” of Convention!

Norwalk, CT, July 9, 2010: New York Comic Con (NYCC) has today announced its first major round of comic guest appearances at this year’s show which will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, October 8 – 10, 2010. Convention officials note that while the final NYCC guest list will span the pop culture universe, including authors, writers, film actors and directors, by far the largest contingent of guest appearances will be from the world of comics. A few of the many guests who have been revealed in today’s announcement include: Adam Hughes, Steve McNiven, Steve Epting, Bob Layton and Greg Pak. Organizers note that Adam Hughes was also a guest at NYCC in 2008. Hughes has drawn for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and many other companies, and he has also done work for Lucasfilm and Warner Bros. He is currently working on many projects, including a hardcover collection of his work for DC Comics.

In separate announcements, NYCC organizers have revealed that Stan Lee will be this year’s “Spotlight” Guest of Honor at New York Comic Con and John Romita and John Romita, Jr. will be appearing together as Keystone Guests of Honor at the show.

F.A.C.T.S. Convention Announces Adrien Loch

Official Press Release,
For Immediate Release,

Gent, Belgium, July 8, 2010

F.A.C.T.S is proud to announce European artist Adrien Floch.

After the previous announcements of artists Frank Cho (USA), Dave Gibbons(UK), famed cartoonist Lectrr (BE), Brandon Peterson (USA), fantasy-artist Anne Stokes (UK) and actress Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3) to our 20th anniversary show in Gent, Belgium, we are now pleased to introduce European artist Adrien Floch.

Adrien Floch reached the international market when French publisher Soleil teamed up with USA-based Marvel Comics, to translate and distribute French titles like the beloved YTHAQ-series, in which a cruise-ship crashes and three heroes are battling the unusual inhabitants of this unchartered planet. Floch is renowned for his detailed work on the planet itself, since Ythaq (plants and animals) is as much a main persona in these stories as are the sexy Granite and Callista!

Robin to Wizard World Chicago

By Shawn Scott Smith| July 6, 2010 | Comments Off on Robin to Wizard World Chicago

To the Con, Robin!… Burt Ward To Attend Wizard World Chicago Comic Con

NEW YORK and ROSEMONT, Ill., July 6, 2010 — It will be like a trip to the Batcave for “Batman” fans as Burt Ward, who played “Robin” in the original television series, makes his first trip to Wizard World Chicago Comic Con, August 19-22 at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. Ward, who was a huge hit at Anaheim Comic Con in April, joins Adam West (Batman) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman) as Chicago Comic Con guests from the popular program, which ran from 1966-68 and has lived on for decades in syndication.

Though an avid comic fan growing up, Ward had somehow never read an issue of “Batman” when he first auditioned for the role of Robin. Quickly impressing the producers, Ward was cast as Robin alongside West’s Batman for an unforgettable three season run that lasted 120 episodes.

The legacy of Batman has stayed with Ward throughout his career. He has reunited with West numerous times to reprise his role as Robin, and has also written an autobiography about his Batman experiences called Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights, signed copies of which will be available at Chicago Comic Con.

Outside of Batman, Ward has appeared in Moving Targets, Homeboys In Outer Space, Alien Force, The Dwelling, Smoothtalker And Kill Crazy.
